Multifuels Announces Open Season for Picacho Peak Gas Storage, LLC
Houston, February 16, 2010 --- Multifuels LP today announced the start of a non-binding open season for service offerings at its proposed high-deliverability natural gas storage facility located in the Picacho Basin area of Pinal County near Eloy, Arizona.
Picacho Peak Gas Storage, LLC (Picacho Peak), a wholly owned subsidiary of Multifuels LP, proposes to develop a natural gas storage facility, consisting of two natural gas bedded salt storage caverns that will provide between 5-8 Bcf working gas capacity based on customer demand. The company anticipates applying for market based rates and filing for FERC certification in the first half of 2011, with construction scheduled to begin in late 2011. The first cavern is scheduled to be in full commercial service in 2013 and the second in 2015.
The company is conducting an open season for both phases of the project for up to 8 Bcf total working gas capacity. The open season will commence at 10 a.m. CST on February 16, 2010 and end at 5 p.m. CST on March 5, 2010.
Picacho Peak will be the first natural gas storage facility in Arizona. It will be connected directly to local power plants, to El Paso Natural Gas Pipeline and to Transwestern Pipeline’s Phoenix lateral providing service not only to the local Arizona markets but also serve long haul shippers, producers and transporters from the San Juan, Permian and Anadarko Basins to all western markets.
Prospective customers seeking additional project information or wishing to discuss storage opportunities should contact Dick Robinson at (832) 251-4279 or Gil Muhl at (832) 252-2251.
